Member Spotlight: Meet Tom

Tom has been a dedicated member since February 2024 and is very active at the Center, checking in multiple times each week. We asked him a few questions about his experiences as well as his overall fitness journey.

Q: What Has Been Your Greatest Challenge?

A: “My biggest challenge has been maintaining a steady schedule. I’ve found that balancing classes and solo workouts has been tricky, and I am also learning to adapt to changes in my body as I age. Keeping an open mind and staying resilient have made a big difference in overcoming these challenges.”

Q: What Activities Do You Participate In?

A: “I enjoy a variety of exercises to achieve a well-rounded workout. I have taken several classes such as Core and More, Aqua Motion, Pilates and Barre. For my solo workouts, I use weights, the track and bikes. Before joining the Center, I had never participated in group exercise classes. After doing cardio for 25 years, I realized it was not enough and was motivated to do more.”

Q: How Has Your Routine Evolved?

A: “After years of focusing on cardio, I began to shift my focus when I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. That is why I joined the Center, so I could work on my balance, weight loss and strengthen my endurance for a healthier lifestyle.”

Q: Do You Utilize Any of Our Assessment Equipment?

A: “I have worked with a personal trainer at one point, and I use BodyScript™ every few months. I also track my BodyScript results in a journal and share them with my doctor during checkups, so he can see my progress as well.”
